Chicago healthcare facilities, dental offices, schools, and workplaces where blood or body fluids may be present must recognize that Federal OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) explicitly covers janitorial and housekeeping workers. OSHA's regulatory authority includes housekeeping workers who clean blood spills, handle contaminated sharps from trash, and encounter body fluids in restrooms and patient areas.
