Janitorial Bloodborne Pathogens Certification Austin

Austin healthcare facilities, dental offices, schools, and other workplaces where blood or body fluids may be present must recognize that Federal OSHA covers janitorial and housekeeping workers under the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030). OSHA's explicit regulatory authority includes housekeeping: "Housekeeping workers in healthcare facilities may have occupational exposure. Individuals who perform housekeeping duties, particularly in patient care and laboratory areas, may perform tasks, such as cleaning blood spills" — and those tasks bring full regulatory coverage. Every Austin facility must identify which janitorial positions have occupational exposure, provide annual training specific to those positions, offer Hepatitis B vaccine to exposed staff, maintain written Exposure Control Plans that address janitorial tasks, and keep 30-year exposure records.

The training must be provided at no cost to the employee, during working hours, and renewed annually.
